AP is pushing a fake news story that Fannie and Freddie are going to do more than the announced $200 billion incremental mortgage bond purchases. This is simply false. FHFA simply gave each entity legal flexibility to go beyond their previous caps, but the combined incremental total MBS buy will not exceed $200 billion.
