Tokenized stocks will drive huge stablecoin adoption
How do you settle trades over the weekend? Stables
Why will people trade tokenized stocks? Let’s assume you can convert easily between normal and tokenized versions of the same stock.
So you own COIN in your fund and there’s now a 24/7 tokenized version with liquidity. What happens when Trump bull posts on a Sunday?
You’re locked in until Monday, while other funds can trade the news. Giving up that flexibility for no advantage seems like a breach of fiduciary duty.
So you have to convert to the tokenized version. And when you trade the tokenized version you buy with stablecoins and sell into stablecoins
And if COIN goes tokenized then HOOD will too. And if HOOD then SCHW, and if SCHW…
How will Nasdaq and NYSE respond? Nasdaq has filed for 24/5 trading, and NYSE for 22/5
Why not 24/7? The leap is really hard. Total process change. When do they do systems upgrades? Are they ready for stablecoin settlement?
If stablecoin usage is going to increase a ton on the weekend don’t we need tokenized treasuries to allow for 24/7 mint/redeem?
On the path to $2tn+ in stables. Not my projection. US Treasury Department says so:
