It’s Monday, and what better way to start the week than to write about @fermah_xyz !
So what exactly is Fermah
Fermah is basically a zkproof marketplace, connecting those that need zero-knowledge proofs (seekers) and those that generate the proofs (Provers). Think of it like Uber, it connects drivers to people who need rides by efficiently matching them to drivers nearby.
Ps: it’s the first of its kind 🫠
How is this even possible
I know what you’re thinking, I had the same question too, that’s why I read the docs and was so thrilled I came to share it.
So at the heart of Fermah’s technology lies three essential components:
- Seeker Nodes
- Matchmaker (core)
- Prover nodes
The Matchmaker is where the fun begins
You see, what @vanishree_rao is trying to accomplish here is to give anyone and everyone access to use any proof system of their choosing to effectively verify tasks, hence why Fermah is proof-agnostic. It supports all major proof systems from RISC Zero’s @boundless_xyz , @SuccinctLabs SP1, Jolt by @a16zcrypto, Valida by @0xLita, Stwo by @StarkWareLtd with rapid expansion to accommodate @aztecnetwork proof system, @NexusLabs zkVM, Stone by @StarkWareLtd and all other proof systems that may be invented in the future. Developers no longer have to tailor their apps to match a chain cause of proof system, you can build on ANY chain and have your proving be handled by Fermah
What the matchmaker does (as the name suggests) is to orchestrate the job across the network. How it works is it:
- it first verifies the request parameter
- then intelligently matches the task to an optimal prover node based on required hardware, cost and performance criteria
You no longer have to worry about idle GPUs or proofs taking too long to be generated
With @fermah_xyz, privacy is at your fingertips!
