Meruru was born from a silence shared between two souls. Legend says they awoke beside Kiti under a sky of perpetual purple hues, with no memory of how they arrived on that high mountain path. The wind, sharp and cold, whistled through bamboo stalks, but the chill did not touch them. They had nothing—no name, no history, only the other’s bewildered face for a mirror. While Kiti looked to the horizon, Meruru looked down, finding a fallen branch from a gnarled apple tree. They picked it up, its weight simple and true. Sages in the city below claim Meruru was not an explorer who lost their past, but a new being created from the world’s forgetfulness, destined to map the land not as it was, but as it is now.
