Today it is impossible to build a social network without an algorithm. Without it, there would be too many bad posts and spam when the network gets big enough to be interesting. The internet is completely different than what we grew up with and we can never return.

If we want alternatives to algo slop, we need new (private) ID systems, radically new kinds of networks, and extremely personalized algorithms that users can directly control (which has significant tradeoffs).
