Austin has both Google and Tesla autonomous taxis, and someone did a comparison. The Google autonomous taxi is driverless, going smoothly and taking the best route. The Tesla autonomous taxi has a person in the passenger seat who can intervene at any time, and there were three incidents in the middle, almost going the wrong way, resulting in a much longer travel time. Tesla's autonomous driving relies entirely on image recognition, and no matter how much training is done, it can never be completely reliable.
