Hunter S. Thompson typed the entirety of The Great Gatsby just to know what it felt like to write a great American novel. It’s crazy but I actually think it’s an underrated learning technique. I can intellectually understand Doom is a masterpiece of coding. But forcing yourself to type out every line and consider how each piece works together, you gain a more embodied appreciation for the work. There’s a lot of benefit in just being forced to slow down and take in the details.
