The Rolex Indicator Lately I’ve been seeing more “Just bought a new Rolex” posts. Not as many as there were near the last peak, but definitely more than six months ago. Last time this happened, it was already late in the cycle. But this time, the volume is still low compared to the peak. I’ve been digging into the data for a longer piece (coming out next week) Rough estimate: we’re two-thirds in. The top is still ahead.

Every major shift in technology creates a new kind of labor. Crypto created financial labor - yield farmers, LPs, airdrop hunters. InfoFi is creating informational labor. Projects like SomniYaps are leaning into this. They're not inventing the concept, just formalizing it: rewarding people not for what they build, but for what they know and how well they spread it. To all InfoFi critics, this feels like paying people to talk. But that’s already how the world works. The only difference is legibility. Making influence measurable like this feels weird. But so did making memes valuable. Or JPEGs worth millions. What looks like play now often turns out to be the infrastructure later. What Actually Counts Crypto is full of noise. Everyone’s trying to go viral. But going viral isn’t the same as being useful. You can post a thread that gets a million views and still change nothing. No one signs up. No one swaps. No one cares. That’s the problem @Bantr_fun is trying to solve. It doesn’t just track what you say. It tracks what happens because you said it. Did someone connect their wallet after reading your post? Did they try the product? Tell a friend? That’s what counts. Most systems reward volume. Bantr rewards outcomes. It filters out bots, ignores low-effort hype, and looks for signal. And because it ties everything back to onchain actions, you can’t fake it. It’s a simple idea: If you want to know who’s influential, don’t look at their reach. Look at what people do after hearing them. Crypto doesn’t need more content. It needs more impact.
