According to the Royal Thai Armed Force’s 2nd Army Region, over 100 soldiers with the Cambodian Army are believed to have been killed so far during escalating cross-border clashes which began on Thursday.

The Royal Thai Armed Forces have now activated their “Chakrabongse Bhuvanath Plan” which acts as a blueprint for the deployment of air, naval, and ground forces, as well as a structured plan for intelligence gathering, operational readiness, and a response mechanism that prioritizes safety, in the event of a full-scale war with Cambodia.

After Cambodia yesterday accused Thailand of using cluster munitions against civilian areas during the ongoing cross-border clashes, the Royal Thai Army has now confirmed its use of cluster munitions during the conflict, but stressed that they are solely for military targets and that they are not expected to result in long-term impacts on civilians in Cambodia. They further add that Thailand is not a signatory of the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM).

According to Royal Thai Army Intelligence, 24 Cambodians, most with the Royal Cambodian Army, are believed to have been killed so far during the ongoing cross-border clashes, with most casualties occurring near Ta Muen Thom Temple. In a report from the Second Army Region, dated from between July 24-25, the Cambodian Army suffered losses in the area near the Ta Muen Thom Temple, including 4 soldiers, 4 civilians, and a monk. Aircraft with the Royal Thai Air Force attacked the Headquarters of 8th, 9th, and 42nd Divisions of the Cambodian Army. Drones attacked Khao Makuea, destroying an arms depot, and a signal tower. Artillery attacked several tanks opposite Khao Makuea, where 14 Cambodian soldiers were killed by drone bombings, totaling 23. Earlier this morning, July 25, artillery with the Royal Thai Army attacked opposite Chong Bok, destroying 3 x 100mm mortars. One Cambodian soldier was killed in the attack, bringing the total number of Cambodians killed so far during the conflict to 24.
