First day of CUBO+ in Lugano: voice, brand, and bitcoin vision.
The young Salvadoran scholars of the CUBO+ program officially began their training at the Plan ₿ Network Summer School in Lugano, Switzerland. The first day was marked by workshops on public speaking, objections, effective marketing, and personal brand building.
The morning of Monday, July 21 began with enthusiasm at the PoW Space, home of the Plan ₿ Network Summer School in Lugano. Seven young Salvadorans, selected for their performance in the CUBO+ Econ Generation program, joined 14 other students from around the world to kick off an intensive week of bitcoin training.
The day opened with a welcome from @giacomozucco, one of the most recognized educators in the ecosystem and director of Plan B Network, the organization that develops the course. His speech marked the beginning of a day filled with ideas, exchange, and personal challenges. Then, a panel of alumni from the previous edition shared their experiences and how the Summer School had changed their professional perspective.
The following sessions were led by educator and speaker Dušan Matuška, who addressed topics such as the fundamentals of public speaking and handling objections. During the workshops, participants explored how to communicate clearly and confidently, how to defend ideas in difficult conversations, and how to develop stage presence. Salvadorans actively participated, sharing their ideas and enthusiastically joining in the exercises.
The afternoon was led by communication and marketing strategist @efenigson, who shared key tools to strengthen professional identity and personal projection in the bitcoiner environment. She emphasized the importance of having an authentic story, communicating with intention, and building a solid presence both online and in professional life.
One of the highlights was the intervention of Salvadoran Juan José Barrera, who volunteered to present his personal pitch in front of the group. He shared how his experience as a former teacher led him to question a traditional financial system that —as he explained— "only moves for self-interest and profit.
"His vision is now focused on contributing to the adoption of an alternative system like bitcoin, one that, in his words, "breaks the mold, promotes individual sovereignty, and teaches us both about personal responsibility and community."
With ease and determination, he spoke about his purpose to help others understand that failure is also part of the journey, and that the key is to communicate the right message, regardless of where it comes from. "It's not the physical location that matters, but the community that receives it," he stated.
His intervention was applauded and left a strong impression on his peers and instructors.
For Erickson Elías, the first day was a personal discovery journey. "Today I made new friendships. I also learned how to confront when someone has ideas different from mine, and I understood the importance of having a clear personal brand to purposefully share what we do," he said at the end of the day.
Jessica Zavaleta also highlighted the intensity and value of the content: ‘Today was the first day of the Summer School and I feel happy about what I have learned. It was an intense day but enriching. We learned how to speak in public, how to express our point of view with others, and also how to create our own personal brand and use it for the benefit of our businesses or ideas.
’This concluded the first day of the @planb_network Summer School in Lugano. A day filled with practical tools, active participation, and the first steps toward what promises to be an experience that will profoundly impact the professional and personal development of these young Salvadorans.
