We are drowning in inauthenticity
Books are not meant to provide a false facade of cultural sophistication. They’re meant to provide escape, to learn from, to fill the soul.
I will 100% judge someone whose shelves are filled with pristine books clearly curated by color or size instead of rows of well-thumbed books, haphazardly arrayed, with covers partially torn.

If you don’t want to instantly be discredited as an obvious hack, wouldn’t you at the very least qualify or temper your claims?
Like instead of saying Israel’s *primary* strategic goal is to get Americans killed, maybe that’s like 9th down the list of goals? Surely self-preservation must rank higher than “let’s hope some Americans die.”
Or instead of saying Churchill is the *chief* villain of WWII, maybe he’s like somewhere in the top 10 of villains but not in the top 5?
This seems like a low bar - yet he fails. It’s quite transparent isn’t it

Most art / fashion nowadays has been about the need to challenge the assumptions of beauty. I totally get it when it was first done - it was super transgressive and fresh - but like it’s been decades of this on repeat, and it’s been nothing but uninspiring and boring.
At this point it’s edgy to actually challenge the assumption that the challenging of the assumptions of beauty is necessary.
Which is why when I saw the latest Dolce & Gabanna Alta Moda 2025 collection in Rome, it just really took my breath away.
It’s pure Romanesque and Biblical elegance with armored corsets, great draping and jewelry fit for a goddess. Makes you really weep with joy. And the good news? The man you’re dating who can’t stop thinking about the Roman Empire? He’d love it too.
Nature is healing 🙏

The Net Zero kool aid that British elites keep force feeding to the public has some really absurd implications:
Basically that we are totally ok using forced Uyghur labor to produce solar panels in order to lower our CO2 emissions. This is green washing slave labor while feeling virtuous about it because we are “clean and green!” It’s utterly ridiculous.
Of course “Great British Energy” solar can’t really come from anywhere other than China, which accounts for 84% of the global production of solar panels.
Why can’t we manufacture our own? The irony is because it can’t be done without fossil fuels, which the UK government has pretty much sidelined due to climate policy.
The Chinese have no such problems, powering their silicon extractions and solar panel manufacturing using coal. Producing just one panel generates as much as 70kg of carbon dioxide.
They also heavily subsidize their solar industry so there’s overproduction and overcapacity, making prices artificially low. There’s no way the UK can compete with that.
This doesn’t even take into account the national security threat - Chinese kill-switches have been discovered in US solar farms.
Every time I fly over Britain and see neatly parceled farmland filled with arrays of solar panels, I just mourn at the self-sabotaging stupidity of it all.

It just occurred to me that the GENIUS Act, which sets the regulatory framework for stablecoins that Trump signed into law days ago, was a callback to the time when he called himself a very “stable genius”
Is there anyone better - whether it’s accidental or deliberate - at turning himself into a meme?
(GENIUS = The Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins)

Since October 7, there have been a documented total of over 42,000 pro-Palestine protests across the Western world. In the US, the Crowd Counting Consortium recorded more than 7,500 events by April 2024; broader analyses put the number closer to 12,400. In Western Europe, the European Palestinian Media Center (EPAL) documented around 30,000 protests by January 2025. This combined total—over 42,000 protests.None of them called on Hamas to step out from ruling Gaza (politically and militarily). Yet, in Gaza there were 8-10 protests, ALL OF THEM CALLING ON HAMAS TO STEP OUT FROM RULING GAZA.
