It’s fun to talk about new features, but I want to highlight some of the "behind the scenes" work we’re doing at @River to strengthen the citadel and reinforce our foundation for the next level of Bitcoin adoption: 1. Ledger upgrade: Our ledger system has served us well for six years but it’s starting to creak with our scale. The next generation of our ledger will make the app faster and unlock a number of new features. 2. Observability: With our new level of scale it's paramount that we can quickly detect and debug any issues that arise before they impact clients. We have been doing a lot of work to improve the resolution and capabilities of our system monitoring tools. 3. Next-gen custody: We’re in the process of designing the next generation of our cold storage custody system. Our custody system today is already extremely secure. The next generation is going to prepare for the next level of scale and operational flexibility as we move towards tens to hundreds of billions of $ worth of BTC under custody. 4. Security enhancements: There are always numerous security upgrades happening a River. Recent projects include improving event logging and network security upgrades to make us more resilient to DoS attacks (botnets trying to flood us with traffic to take the site down). 5. New mobile app architecture: We are working on some really cool mobile app enhancements and part of this includes upgrading the architecture of the app itself to ensure it remains performant and snappy as we add more features. 6. Risk model upgrades: We've built, and are continually improving, a proprietary machine learning model to ensure that as many people as possible can onboard to River with zero friction. The next generation of this model drastically reduces false positives and annoying account opening delays for good users and blocks scammers who waste our time so we can better serve you. 7. Client Services tooling: we are known for a high quality of service and it’s paramount that we maintain this as we grow. We are building powerful internal automations, data controls, and workflow enhancements to ensure that when you interact with our team we can answer your question or address your need as effectively and swiftly as possible while ensuring the highest level of security for your data. 8. Compliance tooling automation: compliance is a necessary function of any financial institution and we are automating as much as possible to help our team move fast to better serve our clients. 9. Payments and accounting automations: The amount of money moving through our systems continues to grow quickly. We are working on numerous automation projects to ensure that we can continue to perform reconciliations and close our books quickly as we scale. This is just a peek into what we are constantly working on behind the scenes to continually improve our operations and the foundation of our system to ensure that we can serve you better every year.

I helped a trader recover 4 BTC (worth RM2 million today) from a 12 year old Airbitz wallet. This wallet used a seed in a format that predates BIP39. I had to write a script to find the child key. Turns out Edge made a recovery tool for it, could've been a 5 min job.
