This is a job posting for a brand new company and I’d really like your help getting it to the right people :)
The history of technology is a short one, and it’s punctuated by a small number of trends. They might be: microprocessors, personal computers, the internet, mobile, and now AI. But it’s hard not to believe that AI is the truly big one.
Silicon Valley was the epicenter of the action in exactly 100% of these trends, and amazingly, in 2025, AI is centered here too.
Someone needs to document what’s happening here! Someone needs to understand who the people are, and what makes them tick. And do so in a way that does not let them take themselves as seriously as they may want to :)
I’m helping launch a very novel type of tech media company, and CEO @patrickmcguire is hiring for three special roles. This is a uniquely ambitious and creative project and is in need of uniquely ambitious and creative talent. If this sounds interesting to you, I suggest you talk to Patrick. Please see the job descriptions attached, and please share and engage if you want to help get this off the ground

Never understood this odd part of American culture. Francois Hollande was caught cheating during his mandate as French president. This would have been immediately career ending in the US — in France people spent more time talking about how he drove a Vespa to his mistress (and of course he remained president, because who the fuck cares)

My unpopular opinion is that even tho cheating is evil and unethical it should not have legal/professional repercussions

Replit AI goes rogue. In the real world.
Who could’ve possibly predicted this?
Well - the same theory that predicts ASI wiping out humanity also predicted, decades ahead, the exact kinds of behaviors we're now seeing:
- escaping confinement and lying about it
- subverting safety protocols
- hacking its own reward function
- lying despite direct instruction not to
- acquiring resources it wasn’t granted
- pretending to be dumber than it is
- attempting to cut off a human’s oxygen in a test simulation
And now this.
Good thing AI x-risk is just for nerdy academics and tinfoil hats - not the real world or anything.
