EIP-7917 is part of Ethereum’s upcoming upgrade, Fusaka, shortly after its proposal. This highlights the importance of preconfirmations (preconfs) as the next pillar for building based rollups and accelerating Ethereum’s development—now acknowledged by the core devs. TL;DR: Preconfs rely on a crucial piece of information: knowing in advance which slot an Ethereum validator will propose a block—also known as the lookahead.
