Optimism is extending its $2 million bug bounty to identify bugs in upcoming Superchain protocol upgrades. This bounty helps secure the foundation for Superchain interoperability, a major upcoming milestone for Ethereum L2s.

What’s new? - The program now covers proposed protocol upgrades before those upgrades ever go into production. - Calldata for protocol upgrades is now in scope, addressing a common attack surface in crypto.

Optimism has paid out $2.6M in bounties since 2022, second only to @0xPolygon on @immunefi. That includes a legendary $2M bounty to none other than @saurik.

The next upgrade in scope is Superchain Upgrade 16, which introduces: - Interop-ready contracts - A max gas limit increase (200m → 500m) - Stage 1 upgrades to meet @l2beat standards
