.@PumpdotScience just published the first cross-species longevity preprint in DeSci, testing two compounds in worms, flies, and mice. They’re now offering 497 $RSC and 150 $RSC to validate the results. 🧵 1/8
How it was tested: 🪱 In worms, automated survival tracking 🪰 In fruit flies, lifespan and movement tracking 🐁 In mice, an 8-week rotarod motor function test 3/8
Findings in worms: The results suggested that both compounds may extend lifespan in worms. They measured: → Rifampicin: +32.9% lifespan → Urolithin A: +6.4% lifespan 4/8
Findings in flies: → Urolithin A: seemed to inscrese lifespan, ~15% longer life (+9 days) + better movement → Rifampicin: Appeared to shortened lifespan + reduce activity (potential toxicity) 5/8
Findings in Mice: No clear improvements observed. The study was limited by sample size and duration 8 weeks might be too short for the effects to appear, so longer studies are needed for conclusive results in mammals. 6/8
