on founder led marketing aka the founder funnel: - why so important? bc people buy from people. - also: people need heroes, especially in crypto. - true believers / diehard community members live vicariously through the founder: your values, your ambition, your decision making, and so on. - but many founders don't wanna do it. "feels awkward" / "i dont know what to say" / "im no good at twitter". these are unacceptable excuses, you're at a competitive disadvantage if you're a crypto founder with an onchain userbase and not leveraging your voice to tell stories, keep ppl informed, share your thinking, etc. this platform is free to use. - a web3 founder who doesn't do founder led marketing is like a web2 founder who says "I don't like to sell". ngmi. - brand accounts will never be as relatable as personal accounts. brand accounts have a certain role to play and can be useful & capable of conversion, but they are not a replacement for a founder's voice. - experienced founders have a natural advantage in founder led marketing - they have a reservoir of war stories, funny anecdotes, analogies, etc to pull from. - but an inexperienced founder sharing their process can be very interesting too - sometimes even more so. people love an underdog, especially one who's accountable, sharing the process, and hungry to win. - hesitant / overthinking founders: its not as hard as you think and there's no point overintellectualizing it, you can just start saying things, so long as you have some basic cognitive abilities you'll start picking up what ppl like and what works. - if you wanna outsource "the frontman" role to someone else in your team, this can help cover some ground but just be aware people want to hear from YOU as the founder, not just from the marketing guy or the community guy etc. YOU are the company and the buck stops with you. - i'm willing to bet many founders who aren't leveraging founder led marketing will be surprised with how fun they find it and how little time it actually takes when you get in to the swing of it.
