Overall inflation picked up a bit in June, but remained fairly calm. If we didn't have the tariff context, we'd probably dismiss this as noise (and it still could be). BUT...

Consumer prices rose 0.3 percent in June and were up 2.7 percent from a year earlier. "Core" prices, excluding food and energy, were up 0.2 percent from May and 2.9 percent from a year ago. Data:
But drilling down a bit, it sure likes there's evidence of tariffs showing through, especially in "household furnishings," a broad category that includes things like appliances and furniture.
