If you think price discovery happening “onchain” means a single server or matching engine matching orders that’s fine but that’s not “onchain” the way it was initially described, it’s pretty close to the opposite actually, and you’re obviously moving the goalposts to where anything is “onchain” if it pings a blockchain through an API or dumps some data periodically this is just using a blockchain functionally as a Postgres database. The entire pitch for the “blockchain” is that you can broadcast a transaction and, because anyone anywhere in the world can make blocks, *someone somewhere* will include your transaction, that’s the censorship resistance part and maybe that’s overrated that’s fine but all you did was change the definition of chain. People who are asking “why does that need to be on a blockchain” may end up being wrong not because it needed a blockchain but because we just changed some words to mean what we want it to mean now that we arbed the reg arb to 0
