OMG - San Francisco has an 11 member "Sweatfree Procurement Advisory Group" to advise the city on whether SF's textile procurement is sweatshop-free. SF has a bunch of byzantine procurement rules on things like whether a contractor has ever done business with Myanmar or Northern Ireland, who they can employ, what questions they can ask in interviews (can they consider criminal history?) etc. BOS failed to streamline procurement rules, it was blocked by Chan, Chen, Engardio, Fielder, Melgar, and Walton because of the Sweatfree Procurement Advisory Group🙄
