What are the NFTs you should be looking at now that NFT season might come back?
I hope we all learned from previous NFT season and are here to understand what we need to invest in to do well.
The fun thing is, this time we have had a season and we can now evaluate the existing projects and pick the ones we feel like are the best.
So first of all what are the two most important metrics for investing in an NFT of an existing PFP collection or an artist?
1) Kept building and kept caring about the community / collectors.
For PFP collections you want to see that the team hasn't abandoned it and has done the extra mile in the NFT bear market, you want daily activity, new partnerships, and them showing up towards the community daily.
You always want to see a good diversified holder base, you want to see diamond hands as in things barely moved and people added on their conviction.
For art, you want the artist to have kept showing up, either in creating art or just being there and expanding it's lore or just be there for their collectors and understanding the scope. Have a talk, share previous works and so on.
2) Historical or cultural importance
There are obviously PFP collections / and artist that where there first. Being first is not enough though, you also want to have people interested in those projects and the art.
Something like this you obviously can't buy, this is something that happens over a period of years, and that's why its so important that we now have a benchmark for all of this.
So re PFP collections, who should you think about than?
Well based on historical and cultural importance there is obvious just one project that you should own. It's the Bitcoin of NFTs and it's @cryptopunksnfts.
Another underdog and one of my favorites is @mooncatrescue but I am biased there, but at these price points and for the historical importance it's a good R/R.
When I look at projects that kept showing up and their communities there is obviously one true champion and it's @LucaNetz & @pudgypenguins.
But there are others, others that have done really well in the bear market. Projects that kept building, stayed around, kept caring about their community and now are slowly coming out of the ashes of the depths of the bear market.
A few to name are @osf_rekt his @RektguyAI $REKT, @TimpersHD his @ChimpersHQ .
Another big one to name is @moonbirds once the contender for top spot, but @kevinrose just made a complete mess, but thanks to a CTO lead by @spencer they are revived and doing really well. Big kudos there.
We also have the other usual suspects @BoredApeYC @doodles @Azuki. I feel they all haven't met the criteria of something I would look for. I don't think they have the communities, the leadership and the vision to comeback. They had so much capital, compared to all the others and they weren't able to keep interest and keep communities like the others with way less money.
Re ART what should you look at?
Well just as with PFPs you also have the Bitcoin of NFTs here, obviously we can discuss which it is. But most likely a lot of people will say its a collection from @artblocks_io. Wat comes to mind is obviously Chromie Squiggle by @SnowFro but also Fidenza and Ringers pop to mind.
For the rest yeah focus on artists that have sticked around. One that has done that + also has the historical importance is obviously @XCOPYART if there is any art you should buy for later it's always XCOPY. You can never go wrong there.
So what are some other things you could look at?
Well obviously one of the things you want to look at is the potential of a token. When a project is hot, and hasn't done a token yet, this could be extra value created for the NFT holders. One that instantly comes to mind is @ChimpersHQ I feel it would be the right move to bring a token when it's the right timing and this could be with an alt season, so things could go exponential, but it's always a gamble.
New metas. We all know @KaitoAI has been doing well and they obviously have their Kaito Genesis NFTs. There are more NFTs that have utility and this could def be something.
All in all, you can position yourself according for the long and short term.
I think a mix of PFP and art is a nice NFT bag. PFPs will most likely moon harder and art will have a longer timeframe run, but also has limited downsize right now if you buy into the right respected artists.
What are the collections you are looking into and feel like are meeting the criteria?
