I can’t find a source for this quote so often attributed to Boulding. Heilbroner wrote something very similar* in 1968 (“Putting Marx to Work,” _New York Review of Books_), and I suspect it’s a misattribution. Anyone?

"Mathematics brought rigor to Economics. Unfortunately, it also brought mortis." -Kenneth E. Boulding
“The neoclassical model has rigor, but, alas, also mortis” ().
The attribution to Boulding is said (by Wiki) to come from Peter Dougherty’s _Whose Afraid of Adam Smith.” But though Dougherty quotes the line (p. 110), he never mentions Boulding, while referring to Heilbroner frequently. Alas, I can’t access the relevant footnote.
