Thanks to @mpost_io for the quote inclusion yesterday, glad I could give a helpful response My original response was actually a bit longer and paints a broader picture - sharing that below: Obviously the choice of Cannes itself was in many ways an aesthetic decision and the location lends itself well to glamorous events in beautiful venues. That said, I still saw a lot of nerds in badly fitting startup t-shirts, rocking company backpacks, and talking about deep technical topics all throughout the downtown Cannes area - and this is a good thing! I think if our industry were to become too smooth and vibe-y without keeping the substantive builders at the core it would be an objectively bad thing. I do wonder what the actual glamorous people that were in Cannes for other reasons at the same time must have thought though, haha.
