The internet has a major verification problem. Arktouros’ Jane Khodarkovsky & I wrote an op-ed for @thehill about the lack of secure solutions protecting users in today’s digital era & the power of ZKPs to solve this: Really proud of the work our team is doing at @SelfProtocol here with its leading zkPoH infrastructure, which Google a.o. is integrating for AI & Web3 innovation, announced today! Keep reading for why this matters 👇 Today, two main options exist for age verification: a. Checking a box to verify you're above 18, which cannot stop children from accessing dangerous content b. Uploading your ID, sharing your private information with a third party that can be hacked or breached Neither option is sufficient in protecting children, their families, and their data. As regulation around age restrictions progresses, we need a stronger solution. We need ZK. This is why Self Protocol exists: verifying identity without compromising your privacy We launched proof-of-humanity protocol Self earlier this year for web2 & web3 apps to verify humanity + unique attributes without compromising sensitive information. Self is already trusted by @get_para, @velodrome, @farcaster_xyz, @TalentProtocol and, as announced today, @googlecloud It's rewarding to see industry leaders like Google recognize the potential of ZK-powered infrastructure for identity and proof-of-humanity verification. This momentum is just beginning as the AI race heats up, and identity becomes more relevant than ever (cf. @vitalikbuterin’s recent post on this Bots and deepfakes are taking over the internet, requiring more proof-of-humanity checkpoints than ever. It’s no longer a question, but a required security measure, for which ZK will be the only answer Expect to see more major players join the ZK movement in the coming months, driven by regulation, but also a real desire to protect users. Let’s continue to work together as an industry and drive a safer, more prosperous internet for real humans everywhere.
