Human beings have a 9 stages of growth that lead to fulfillment. Most die before ever reaching stage 5. But where are you? 🧵👇
Most of us are not nearly as "well rounded" or "developed" as we might think. Too many people value IQ development over ego development but by measuring ego, we can understand human growth. Here's a breakdown of human ego development and where most of us truly are:
STAGE 1: The Impulsive (4.3% of US adults) This is the toddler stage: "I want it, and I want it now." It's raw, emotional, and action-oriented. People here act like children.
Consider the last time you reacted in anger without thinking, rage quit a game, revenge traded, texted someone "u up?" at 2 am. This stage is base: your capacity is only big enough to satisfy your immediate base-level urges without second thought. We are all here at times.
STAGE 2 : The Self-Protective The survival stage characterized by trauma or stunted development. People here are often opportunistic, manipulative, and focused on avoiding punishment rather than doing what is right. Many career criminals occupy this stage.
STAGE 3: The Conformist (11.3% of US adults) Follow the rules, do your homework, avoid standing out. Most common in early adolescence, but about 11% of US adults occupy this level. This is the stage of being the cog in the machine. Many Boomers did not surpass this stage.
@JTLissPhotoArt “A Morning Well Spent In Existential Dread” feels very light to me, accepting and somewhat amused, like reading a terrible headline and then a kitten spilling coffee across it.
