if you think about the history of computing, the era where compute and labor were complements was the 90s with PCs/offline productivity software. before that it was mainframes, after that it was cloud. blockchains are a way to make cloud computing and local knowledge complementary, but no one has come close to cracking it in a way that competes with vertically integrated firms that own all of the necessary data and compute required to make a product. as labor gets devalued, these systems either pick up the slack and become competitive with centralized firms, or we get fourth turning surplus elite chaos communism redistribution/UBI politics.
