An immediate yes to someone you believe in can be a very powerful thing for both the recipient and the future outcome. When @bagdelete asked about building a web viewer for trappedjoegs, I immediately said yes. I like noper’s work, I like noper, I like helping artists. A more rational decision may have been to say maybe later since I was in the middle of a launch or say no or maybe charge for it. I did none of those things. I just said yes, built it in a day, and didn’t charge for it. Again, maybe not the most rational decision but I personally believe it was the right decision. That immediate yes from someone who believes in you is a powerful thing. I have been very fortunate to have experienced it as an artist from one of the greatest patrons in our community, @WAPSHOP_ETH. She was an immediate yes to my Hominis series, and so she was the first collector I shared Anomalia to and very grateful she again came in as the first collector of the print and the digital pieces. This meant a lot to me and her gesture gives me confidence in what I am doing with my art practice. But I do believe in the old adage that you reap what you sow. In the beginning of my collector journey the part I enjoyed most was finding an artist and being among the first to believe in them before anybody else did. These artists are now amongst my closest friends in this community. I still try to do this today, even with my art practice as busy as it is, like investing in @AlizeJireh’s upcoming lighthouse film. I love Alize, love her work, and I could see that her lighthouse project was going to be incredible. But it doesn’t have to just be artists, but people I believe in and believe in their mission. Like @RogerDickerman. I was the first to buy the first 24HOA token. I was the first to buy the 2025 patron token. I love RD, I love what he is building, and I know 24HOA will be a key pillar for the future we are all building here. I am not always first and don’t have to be first, but I do enjoy and find great meaning in that moment of putting my money where my mouth is for something I believe in.
