I got a SpaceX tour in 2011 and then dumped my (poverty stricken PhD student) life savings into TSLA. Seemed obvious to me at the time. I'm still surprised that so much of the market was short for so long after. IIRC there were four or five brutal short squeezes, each one wiping out pessimistic bets of billions of dollars.
I had to sell some to get a green card but the rest is still long.
