Thoughts on wisdom posting (long read)
When you attain wisdom, you feel like sharing it with people around you to save them from the mistakes you’ve made in the past, so they could probably reach a better stage in life. And that’s a very human act. It’s a selfless act of helping people do better in life.
But the state you’re in while you’re holding that wisdom vs the state the other person is in - with the craving to seek those paths that look more interesting according to the worldview processed by their senses - is kinda completely opposite to each other.
It’s like asking someone to resist eating a delicious cake while warning them they might get diabetes. They probably will get diabetes in the long run, but before that, they might go through a series of short-term joys from eating that cake.
That’s what matters to the mind, as the same mind thinks you’ve got no predictability on life, so why miss out on those joys while you have a chance?
And if you look at that perspective from nature’s end, it makes sense to indulge in materialistic pleasures - but only if those pleasure sessions don’t push you into a state where suffering becomes unbearable at some point. And when that happens, you wish to go back and never have played along with those cravings.
But now you can’t do that, so you ask others to avoid that path. Still, your timeline unfolded its own way. You might have had people sharing the same wisdom when you were committing those mistakes, but you never listened - so how can you expect others to operate differently?
So it’s better not to push people. But you can always share the wisdom and let it reach the seeker who is experiencing a certain setback from those cravings, and now they are looking for redemption. Your words could help them redeem their purity.
It could help them be positive. It could help them move on. It could help them push ahead in life. And that’s when your wisdom finds its true place - even if it’s a single heart that receives it as a whole.
