A Delta Air Lines pilot was arrested on Saturday after Flight 2809 from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) landed at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The Boeing 757 had encountered minor delays earlier in the flight due to low visibility caused by fog, but the situation escalated dramatically once the aircraft reached the gate. According to eyewitnesses, approximately 10 law enforcement officers, including agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), boarded the plane immediately after landing. Officers rushed to the cockpit and arrested one of the pilots without warning. Passengers said the second pilot appeared shocked and told those who asked that he had “no idea what just happened.” Authorities had deliberately kept the arrest quiet during the flight to avoid alerting the suspect. Delta Air Lines has not issued a statement about the incident and referred all inquiries to law enforcement. The US Department of Homeland Security has not disclosed the reason for the pilot’s arrest. Identity of the pilot in custody has not been revealed.
