One of my favorite things to do is read a bunch of books all roughly related to the same topic in succession. By the 2nd or 3rd book, you start reading more critically, making connections and comparisons, noticing the same names, feeling like you're part of a little world. And in a week or two, you can read more on a topic than ~99% of generalists.
