Most non-profits are simply wealth distribution from donors to the people who run nonprofits by layering in so many administrative costs and salaries and handoffs that the cause itself gets next to nothing.

I've been asked about the LA wildfire donation scandal.
Here's the truth: it's standard operating procedure. In most nonprofits, only a small fraction of your donation reaches the front lines.
If this qualifies as a scandal, then the entire nonprofit sector is a scandal.
Lawmakers shouldn't treat this as an isolated case; they should treat it as a call to overhaul a broken, opaque system.
