2/ I’ve got two passions in life: options and football (soccer for the Americans). My friend @georgebenton247 challenged me: “Buy a football club using covered call income.” Say less.

3/ First things first: what’s a covered call, and how does Rysk work? It’s simple: • You hold the asset (like ETH) • You sell a call option on it (agreeing to sell your asset at a set price in the future) → You get paid yield upfront in USDT → You set a price you’re happy to sell at in the future

4/ At expiry, two outcomes: • ETH below strike → you get your ETH back • ETH above strike → you effectively sell at the strike and receive USDT Two main use cases: 1. 5/ Yesterday morning, as soon as the Rysk cap opened, I opened two covered calls positions on ETH. Why ETH? Volatility was high after the recent pump, so I could get a high upfront premium. I picked $4.2K and $4.6K strikes expiring end of August. If ETH pumps that high, I’m happy to sell. Total deposited: 1ETH Total premium earned: $126.90 USDT Annualized: ~38% APR

6/ Then I hit @opensea. Found a 6th division Footium team for $99.49. Couldn’t resist. Now I’m the proud owner of Lechforry Rangers, hunting promotion. What’s Footium, you ask? It’s basically on-chain Football Manager. But with ETH prizes.

7/ Last season, rewards for finishing top 3 in this division were higher than the cost of the club. First place paid out almost 0.05 ETH (~$185). So the mission is clear: promotion and sustainability. Hopefully Captain Danilo Padilha will lead us to glory 🫡

9/ Fun experiment. Serious point. Covered calls let you earn upfront yield on assets you already hold. I used that yield to buy a football club. Now imagine you’re a fund or treasury. Use that income to fund ops, pay contributors, or bootstrap growth. This already happens OTC: a gated market with high counterparty risk, mostly available to big players and insiders.
