The average investor is fearful and lazy. If you want to optimize your protocol for mainstream adoption, that's who you are optimizing for. How to make it easy? How to make it look safe? I think Terra achieved that, to a certain extent. Anchor on Terra was the only protocol that I was able to introduce to my normie friends. Mirror also had a great appeal to normies. It felt easy, it felt safe. Yeah, I know, it went pear-shaped in the end, but you get the gist. Terra showed the way, at least conceptually.

It was inevitable. Crypto and blockchains are hard, normies are looking for an easy way to go long the entire industry, without fiddling with wallets, bridges, and all that stuff. Common investors are lazy; they want to send money to a bank account, get a receipt (so they can sue them if something goes wrong), and let "experts" do their "magic".
