ISRAEL HAS BEEN MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE I'm afraid Israel has self-sabotaged the framing of the Gaza war from day 1. Here is the shockingly insightful explanation of Israel's war failure by @EinatWilf. It would've made a LOT more sense to conduct the war according to her alternative framing: * Hamas is not separate from Gaza. This is a war against Palestinianism, the dominant ideology of Gaza and Hamas. * The central tenet of Palestinianism is that Jews must never have a sovereign state in the region. * Ideologies can and should be defeated in wars. * The Gaza war should be fought toward a surrender, not negotiation or "ceasefire". * Israel should not be resupplying its enemy during war. * Israel should create safe zones where individuals who are not aligned with Palestinianism can individually surrender. * Individual surrender means they state their desire to live next to a Jewish state, that they don't have a "right of return", and they are expunged from the records of UNWRA's "refugees". She also explains that the current war approach has not exacted a price on Hamas from their perspective. Hamas remains firmly in power over Gaza, they hold the hostages, and they continue to be granted negotiating leverage over Israel. They thus continue to be in a position to make the same demands as they did on October 6.
