Rewatched Fast Times at Ridgemont High the other day. The lives of the teenagers revolved entirely around trying to get laid, hanging out at the mall, swimming in the pool, working after school jobs. Totally unselfconscious - lots of gay jokes. 1982 was a different world.

Some people have mentioned the abortion episode, but even that is trivialized in the movie. It's a 5 minute segment - she gets the abortion, promptly gets over it, and goes on with her life. No one really cares, no one gives her a hard time. I wasn't around to read criticisms or reviews at the time, but I can imagine the moral majority being offended that this was treated so lightly. Probably today that would be a serious problem for the resurgent religious.
