So @CBSSunday got a few things wrong in its Bitcoin segment, but by far the biggest miss was their estimate from the Fed on how many Americans own bitcoin/crypto. They said only 8% of Americans own Bitcoin/crypto. That’s half as many Americans that Coinbase said they had on their platform in *2023* Since then Bitcoin ETFs became the biggest financial product in the market with endowments, pensions, and RIAs going big into them. Sprinkle on top of that a SBR, and you could make the argument that just right there every single American owns Bitcoin. At least they have exposure to it. Idk if we’ve had a recent industry estimate of how many Americans own Bitcoin but I’d guess close to ~35% or ~125m Americans have direct exposure to it in some capacity. What will grow from here is both the % of people but also the % of their net worth that is invested into Bitcoin.
