Hi I'm Morgan, the person behind Comet Portfolio. And I thought it would be good to introduce myself 👋 So here we go! First things first, I'm an Engineer. I went to Carnegie Mellon and did my undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. Then I stayed on and did my Masters in Computer Engineering. In School I was always super interested in how to make code run super fast, optimization was my jam. After I graduated I went to work for Sonos, where I was very early there, pre-launch. I watched the company grow from ~35 people to over 1,000 people. It was an incredible journey, and yes, I have a LOT of speakers in my house. I left Sonos when I learned my stock was going to be worth a lot more money than I could have imagined, it totally changed my life. I also knew that going forward, I wanted to start and build companies, not work for them. So after I left Sonos, I cofounded Bold Metrics where I'm currently our CTO, leading our amazing Engineering and Data Science teams. I love what I do, and as you probably have already guessed, am pretty obsessed with technology, specifically using AI to change the way the world works. One place I see AI having a major impact in the very near-future is with AI Agents, and specifically, agents that trade things like stocks and crypto. While I saw a lot of people building trading agents with models like Claude, I've always been concerned with the challenges models like that have with hallucinations. I started exploring Perplexity, both through their Sonar API, and through Research and Labs. Then I discovered Comet, their Agentic browser and realized it was the missing link that could put all of these pieces together. What makes Perplexity different is that they back everything they do with sources. So the hallucination issue, isn't an issue, or at least it's massively minimized compared to other models. To me, it feels like the first truly powerful agentic trading software will be Perplexity-powered, not Claude or ChatGPT powered. Or at least that's my bet, and that's why I'm building Comet Portfolio. I woke up this morning and saw someone had launched a coin, Comet Portfolio Coin, and found all of these amazing people who seem to be as excited about what I'm doing as I am. So here we are. That's me, and yes - this is just week one. I'm a long-term guy so I'm going to keep building, keep sharing, and continue learning from the community, and hopefully this turns into something incredibly special. I am so excited to continue to support the Comet Portfolio coin until I'm old and grey, and the wonderful community, until we're all old and grey together.
