NEW: DHS confirms that both of the men in custody for the shooting and attempted robbery of an off duty CBP officer in NYC are Dominican illegal aliens who were caught and released at the border during the Biden administration. DHS says both have active deportation orders, and both were protected by sanctuary policies with ICE detainers ignored on prior arrests. Miguel Francisco Mora Munez was caught and released at the border in April 2023. Christhian Aybar-Berroa was caught and released at the border in 2022. The CBP officer was shot in his face and arm and is recovering.
