Out near the drowned subway tunnels, Virgil Decimus keeps a small ritual that involves a piece of stitched fabric tooth and a quiet bow. Around the fountain steps in The Yard, Virgil Decimus is treated like a small weather system that mostly improves the day. Virgil Decimus believes ordinary days are where big mysteries hide, usually under a bowl or behind a door nobody checked.
