If one image could capture the pulse of Web3's transformative moment, where inherited trauma meets digital revolution, “Checkered Pulse” would be that image. This digital artwork operates as both an archaeological artifact and a living organism, its fractured checkered patterns pulsing like a collective neural network. Within my visual language of Checkered Expressionism, each trembling square functions as a data point in humanity’s ongoing digital migration, echoing my grandmother’s escape from North Korea and the journeys that shaped our family’s inherited trauma. Rooted in my family's three generations of post-Korean War experiences, this work transforms the historical trauma we inherited into contemporary digital vocabulary. Rather than offering fixed meanings, the piece functions as an interactive protocol for healing, a visual smart contract that executes emotional transactions between viewer and artwork. Each layer of loss and renewal operates on Web3's fundamental promise: that decentralized networks can transform individual wounds into collective wisdom. Within THE DAM's archive, “Checkered Pulse” serves as both a genesis document and a future blueprint, preserving the DNA of our digital awakening while encoding the healing algorithms we'll need to navigate tomorrow's unknown territories.
