OpenAI researchers say an experimental reasoning model sat the 2025 IMO under full exam conditions; two 4.5-hour sessions, no internet, natural-language proofs, and solved 5 of 6 problems, scoring 35/42 points, enough for a gold medal.

Even though the puzzles look similar to V1, V2 generally requires longer reasoning chains, which makes it harder." "Now, with V3, we’re defining what we’re calling an interactive reasoning benchmark; to evaluate and challenge the new generation of frontier AI agent systems."

We asked @MartinShkreli about the current state of quantum computing. "Quantum computers are actually very slow machines." "They don't have much storage." "But the reason to be excited is Shor's algorithm that takes you from the exponential runtime to polynomial, it's a miracle." "The problem is, there are no other algorithms other than Shor's that get that amazing speed up."

We asked @TheStalwart about the economy's performance. "Setting aside the markets where the line always goes up, it was a good week for economic data." "We got better-than-expected economic sentiment, retail sales, initial jobless claims, and the Philadelphia Fed manufacturing survey."
