This is a good example of how this stuff has been normalized. Cenk says it’s not antisemitic to point out Israel “controls Congress” bc they donate “more to Congress than any other lobby”. But that’s a lie. So why would you spread a provable lie about this one particular country to suggest a foreign entity controls our government? Israel isn’t even in the top 10 of direct lobbying spend. And even total pro-Israel lobbying is relatively small. China is by far the biggest spender on direct lobbying. Qatar has spent billions and even been caught directly bribing federal officials. But Cenk and his ilk never show any interest in it or care about that spending. They don’t spend their days accusing Qatar or China of having bought our government. Because this isn’t about foreign influence. It’s not hateful to say things that are true but uncomfortable.
