BREAKING: Meloni decides to reject of all amendments to the International Health Regulations adopted by the WHO and which were are supposed to enter into force on September 19th. The Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, says the WHO didn't deliver during COVID: "It's absurd and dangerous to think that Italy should cede parts of its healthcare sovereignty to an organization like the WHO, which during Covid showed its clear limitations. The Meloni government rightly rejected the International Health Regulations, which would have introduced binding measures from above, without going through Parliament and without considering national specificities." The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Edmondo Cirielli also explained why Italy is pulling out of the amendments: "This is not cooperation: it's bureaucratic centralism in a health-care context, with the risk of drastic measures being imposed without any democratic debate. Having extensively addressed this issue as the Meloni government's WHO delegate, I firmly believe that each nation's right to decide how to address a health emergency must be defended. This isn't narrow-minded sovereignism: it's a responsibility to its citizens"
