Indonesia is doing something better than India. Between 1988 and 2020, India's informal employment % did not change at all, nor its inverse, wage employment %. By contrast, between 2001 and 2020, Indonesia did reduce informality & increase wage work.

Considering that Indonesia's agric. share of employment is 15 points lower than India's, it suggests Indonesia has handled structural transformation better than India: better coordination of the shrinking of the agric employment share with growth in non-agric job opportunities.
