it's virtually ILLEGAL to build, san francisco built 9 houses last year normal people cannot understand that the only reason no one can afford rent or housing and have to commute an hour is because they are "protected" by government regulation

Why does seemingly every country in the English-speaking world have an insane housing market? Is it something inherent to English common law that makes us not build enough housing or something?
"but my neighbourhoods" capitalism already fixed this, big company buy big plot of land and promises no housing and people pay millions per house and people who really want to live by parks and ready to pay more will have apartment complex owners make sure there are parks
like i agree i wanna live in a nice area as well, nice areas would be muuch cheaper if you could build 60 floor apartments in all of downtown ffs literally wveryone is better off
