U.S. President Donald J. Trump toured the ongoing renovations at the Federal Reserve’s Marriner S. Eccles Building in Washington, D.C. today with the Chair of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell. Towards the end of the tour, the pair stopped for an interview, during which President Trump claimed the cost of the renovations had ballooned to $3.1B, which was denied by Powell. Trump then produced a paper which he claimed showed the cost of the renovations, though Powell stated that this paper included the cost of past renovations to the William McChesney Martin Jr. Building, which underwent a top-to-bottom refurbishment that began in the early 2010s and was completed in 2021.
