The initial 2 months of my first long duration mission there were only 2 other astronauts aboard Space Station. On a typical day we worked on different tasks and experiments, many of mine being in the Kibo module where I was frequently alone during the work hours. We ate three meals a day together and I cherished our comradery onboard. But it was easy to feel that the three of us are isolated from the rest of the world. As we consider sending astronauts on long-term missions, it's important to incorporate ways to combat these experiences, especially in situations where ground communication will be more difficult and less frequent.
