I think censorship resistance is an easier problem to solve than improving block latency. Adding to that, going from 12 -> 6 seconds is nothing special, especially considering rollups now give their users a best case scenario of 200ms latency. At least for the foreseeable future, Ethereum cannot (and should not) compete with its own rollups in the scope of transaction latency but it can definitely deliver the most important value props: 1. Credible Neutrality, 2. Privacy.
