The EU's trade agreement with the US -- if implemented as advertised -- is the least bad outcome available to the bloc among the options actually on the table. A more robust approach would have required member states to be united, prepared to absorb pain and to pushback against industry lobbying. Otherwise, rhetoric and tough talk are just words.
